The service provided by buildings satisfies major requirements on behalf of their owners and their occupants. Considering buildings as one among many means and as a support for providing services has considerably transformed the methods and processes used for their design. New ways of working and new opportunities for cooperation are enabled between architects, owners, administrators and users. Facilities Management (FM), strategic management of the means and the services necessary for companies and administrations to pursue their core business, is symbolic of this evolution.
The workshop will bring together researchers and professionals from Europe (France, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden) and Canada to debate their perspectives and experience, to try to draw up the balance sheet and to develop further research questions about the impact of the emergence of FM on architectural design, on the organisation of projects and on the quality of buildings.
